You’ve heard of a cheese and wine night, but what about a cheese and whisky night? Cheese and whisky is a match made in flavour heaven – it’s a delicious pairing that you simply need to try. There are so many different varieties of cheese, from sharp hard cheeses like mature cheddar and parmesan, to creamy soft cheeses such as camembert and brie. And there’s enough variety in Whisky to be able to pair different cheeses to different whiskies, and be playful in doing so.

About the Whisky
Independent whisky bottlers buy casks of whisky directly from distilleries and bottle them under their own label. While they don't distil the whisky, they do develop the flavour of the whisky. They do this by choosing how long to mature it for, and sometimes they use cask finishes to add additional layers of flavour. We have partnered up with such an independent bottler in That Boutique-y Whisky Company for this event, who for over 10 years has been exclusively about the single cask, small batch, limited edition and unrepeatable bottlings.

About the Cheese
In the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Maleny Cheese produces award-winning, handcrafted cheese and yoghurt. They craft a boutique cheese range including cheddar, white mould and feta-style cheeses made with local cow’s milk and buffalo milk. These cheeses are lovingly handmade using artisan skills handed down from European Master Cheesemakers.

About the Event
On arrival you will enjoy a refreshing cocktail incorporating the World Whisky Blend, a unique and harmonious blend of whiskies from across the breadth of planet earth, to achieve a truly global flavour. The blend includes whiskies from: Scotland, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, USA, Switzerland, Netherlands, Taiwan, India, Italy, Germany (Bavaria), France, Japan and Finland. You will also munch on a delicious assortment of pizza and panini from Maroochydore’s Goodslice Pizza.

Then we’ll start the show and present four premium Scotch whiskies paired with cheese on this personalised tutored tasting. Simon McGoram, Asia Pacific regional brand manager for Atom Brands, which owns That Boutique-y Whisky Company will be on hand to delve into the background and flavours of these drinks whilst you taste and savour each.

We’ll also explain the journey the spirit makes – through the distillation process, discovering how every ounce of flavour is captured before and during barreling. We’ll tell you how the spirit ages – from the difference the wood makes, to how the spirit deepens in colour over the years. You will leave us with greater knowledge, a new appreciation of Whisky & Cheese, and a beautiful palate experience.
