Ken Down commenced practice on the Sunshine Coast in 1978, expanding into Brisbane, Gold Coast and Airlie Beach. Since 1999 Ken has consolidated his architectural practice (KDA) on the Sunshine Coast in Mooloolaba. Recently the firm merged with Aspect Architects and Project Managers to meet the growing demand for innovative design and high standard project management services. The blend has combined 70 years of experience to create the largest Regional based practice with offices in Mooloolaba, Toowoomba and Brisbane, offering architectural and interior design through to start-to-finish project management.
Services offered include site master planning, interior design, urban planning, multi-unit residential design, resort accommodation, project design, retail projects, retirement village projects, exclusive residence design, educational institutional projects, worship centres and ancillary buildings, sports club facilities and associated food and beverage club facilities, hotel projects and marina developments.
Part of the practice’s design process includes incorporating best practise of ecologically sustainable design which include the contribution to the quality and sustainability of the natural and built environment, minimising the consumption of non-renewable resources, minimising the pollution of soil, air and water and maximising the health, safety and comfort of the building user.
